What services does BSX provide?

BSX has brought together a range of niche trading markets, private equity services and a community of advisers and brokers. These services provide growth solutions for emerging businesses, particularly rural and regional enterprises.

See Markets for further information.

Why is BSX developing a range of niche trading markets and other private equity services?

During late 1997, BSX commissioned Ernst & Young and Small Cap Consultants to carry out feasibility work on the funding requirements of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and the best way to meet those requirements. The feasibility study concluded that the funding requirements of SMEs were very diverse and the most effective way to meet them would be to develop a range of capital raising, trading and information services. The feasibility study also concluded that the services should aim to meet the needs of Australian businesses at different stages of their development.

What costs are involved in using the range of BSX services?

BSX understands that emerging businesses are cost conscious and have a strong focus on value for money. Although fees are payable to list on the BSX markets or use the private equity services, much of the information contained in the Markets section of the web site is free. BSX sets its fees so they are competitive with comparable services in the market place.

Please refer to Markets for current fees.

Does BSX compete with other capital raising services in Australia?

The capital market in Australia is very large and diverse. Independent research indicates there are up to 10,000 Australian businesses seeking capital. As a result, a number of different types of capital raising services have developed to service that capital market. While BSX will probably compete to a certain extent with other private equity services, BSX has developed its own niche. BSX believes that the Australian capital market is large enough and diverse enough to support a range of private equity and related services.

Will the BSX markets be competing with ASX?

The BSX markets will initially cater for the requirements of its niche community rather than large blue chip companies. We believe that the ASX market already caters for those companies very well. By contrast, we aim to operate a range of specialist markets, particularly emerging enterprises and rural and regional companies.

As BSX listed companies grow and prosper we expect many will graduate to larger and more liquid exchanges such as ASX. We believe that this would be positive for Australian markets as a whole. As a consequence, the BSX markets will tend to complement rather than compete with larger markets such as ASX.

Why is BSX different?

BSX is unique because it brings together a range of capital raising, trading and information services for growing businesses. In other words, a one-stop-shop. The BSX private equity services and the BSX markets are specifically tailored to meet the needs of Australian businesses, particularly emerging businesses those based in rural and regional Australia.

How do I list my investment opportunity on one of the BSX private equity services?

A downloadable guide and template have been prepared for each BSX private equity service.

For further information about listing on a particular BSX service, please refer to the section titled How to List.
